McConnell Air Force Base wants to work with small businesses, and hosted a networking event on Tuesday to connect to them.

The base hosted the event so people could learn what the base needs to succeed. One of the organizers said the goal is to help the local economy. “Over the last five years, McConnell Air Force Base has obligated about 199 million dollars, of that 188 million dollars went to small businesses,” Brandy Epperson, director of business operations for the 22nd Contracting Squadron, said. “Small businesses are the backbone of the economy.” In 2024, McConnell has obligated $21 million to local small businesses.
